Hello folks, I'm back with another round of train photos, finally!
Quite a variety here, literally from the mountains to the coast of NC, with some from in between.
First, caught in High Point, NC, we have Norfolk Southern NS 1638, an EMD SD40-2 that was built in July 1974 as Norfolk & Western NW 1638.
Also from High Point, for the NCDOT this time, we have RNCX 1755, an EMD F59PHI built in 1998.
All the NCDOT's locos are named, this one being "City of Salisbury", and the loco number being the founding year of the city on the loco.
Now down to the NC coast, around Wilmington to be precise.
We have here CSX 2035, an EMD GP38-3 that was built as a GP38-2 for Louisville & Nashville as LN 4062 in April 1972, then becoming CSX 2572, before being rebuilt and renumbered to the condition seen here.
Now up to the mountains, Canton, NC, to be exact, we have 2 for the Blue Ridge Southern, which is owned and operated by Webb Asset Management/Watco, who're headquartered in Pittsburg, Kansas.
First up, WAMX 4602, an EMD SD40M-2. It was built as an SD45 in September of 1969 as Saint Louis & San Francisco (Frisco) SLSF 932, then through merger becoming Burlington Northern BN 6680, then to Union Pacific as UP 4733, leaving the UP roster it was rebuilt as an SD40M-2 and became CIT Group/Capital Finance CEFX 2783, then CITX 2783, then Residco OFOX 2783, then on to Watco. A long, convoluted history!
Lastly, WAMX 3945, an EMD GP39-2. It was built in March 1976 as Delaware & Hudson DH 7612, then became Boston & Maine BM 352, then moving on to Union Pacific as UP 2731, and later UP 1231, finally winding up with Watco.
Thanks for looking!
Very interesting histories and it is nice to see how they repurpose and reuse all these locos
