Here's another 5 pack of various trains, caught in various locations, and at various times.
Enjoy!
First, a shot I was quite happy to get!
Norfolk Southern NS 1650, and EMD SD40-2 originally built as Norfolk & Western 1650 in July of 1974 - 48 years old this month.
Of course, the double rainbow was the real treat here. Everything just lined up perfectly!
Next, another SD40-2, this time NS 6077. This one also was built for N&W, as their 6077 in February 1975.
Two-for-one this time. In the foreground we have NS 3661, a GE ET44AC, and in the background we have NS 3331, another SD40-2, this one built in June of 1977 as Conrail CR 6360.
A mediocre shot of Yadkin Valley Railroad's YVRR 8786, an EMD SD60M built in June of 1993 as CR 5537, then going to CSX as their 8786.
A rear-end shot of the one and only Knoxville Locomotive Works KLWX 1998, a KLW QSK95.
It was built in December of 1999 as an EMD SD90MAC-H for Union Pacific as UP 8559. The SD90s were not successful, and most were quickly sold or scrapped, including 8559, going to Electro-motive Leasing as EMLX 8559, then to Progress Rail as PRLX 8559. Finally ending up at KLW, who rebuilt/modified it, and installed a Cummins QSK95 engine in it (hence the name). From what I can tell, this is the first and only time a QSK95 has been used in a locomotive, and it doesn't appear to have been a successful experiment. Cool looking loco, though.
That's it for this round, thanks for looking!
Double rainbow pic is stunning! Talk about timing - yours was perfect
