Back on July 13, we took a day trip up to Danville, Virginia to see what we could spot rolling on the Danville District, which was quite a variety of stuff, to say the least!
First to pass before our perch, what is probably my favorite modern diesel model, an EMD SD70Ace, this one for Norfolk Southern, who are headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia.
And beginning what would end up being a convoy of MOW (maintenance of way) equipment, a cool Swingmaster 181LTC.
And requiring 2 shots to capture the full effect, a Volvo VHD for Holland LP whose headquarters are in Crete, Illinois.
Yes, it came down the tracks backwards, which is a situation I'm sure the driver was thrilled with ... not.

Going:
Moving on, another MOW machine, this one of unknown purpose...
The tank on it says PROPANE, so maybe it has something that emits flames, but that's just a guess.
Any help identifying this would be appreciated.
A pretty blah GE C44-9W, again a NS unit.
Not too often around here can I get a ground level head on shot, so this was a novelty.
If I'm not mistaken, these are sometimes referred to as "catfish", due to the cab area resembling one and the "whiskers" from the NS herald.
And lastly, a visitor near the end of our trainspotting outing: a groundhog.
Thanks for looking!
Very interesting stuff. Thanks for posting
All of those were great catches! Nice photography work
