I've always had an interest in abandoned/derelict buildings, and have recently started making an effort to photograph and document these buildings to the best of my abilities.
So, this'll be the first installment of abandoned locations, with more to come, hopefully.
First, what I believe to have been a Winn-Dixie, built probably sometime in the 80's, and closed/abandoned in the early 2000's. It's in Reidsville, NC, behind the almost dead Pennrose Mall.
Not sure what's up with these murals/stickers...
Near as I can figure, it's been abandoned around 20 years, but looks reasonably okay. It could maybe be saved, but it's in a hard to find and access spot, and the immediate area is pretty dead... as you'll soon see.
Also in the same area as Pennrose, China Grill, a very tattered looking abandoned restaurant.
I think this building was built in the '60's, maybe.
There's a building of the same dimensions in a historic photo from 1971, but no building in '55, so the '60's are my guess.
Still got the menu up.
The inside was still furnished, but the outside looks pretty rough, so when this one bit the dust, I don't know.
Maybe Covid is to blame here - place just hanging on and then the restrictions hit and they went under. Looks like it's been abandoned longer, though...
Next, a shuttered Golden Corral.
I don't think I've seen a closed GC before - maybe another Covid closure?
I believe it was built in the late '80's or '90's.
A recent closure, I believe, as it still had furnishings, such as candy machines and claw machines.
And it's for sale or lease - so if you want an old buffet restaurant in Reidsville, Kotis has you covered.
An abandoned and partially collapsed warehouse.
And lastly, "DK Market", a very rough looking gas station.
That's it for this round - thanks for looking!
This is great category
