Here's some highlights of dates, focus areas, etc.
It'll be May 4-6, 2021.
There will be a particular focus on lighting and hours of service issues this year.
Of course, any and all other aspects of the equipment and driver will be scrutinized as well.
Here's a short punchlist of areas you may want to check out or get checked out at your local shop.
- Vehicle's Braking System
- Cargo Securement
- Coupling Devices
- Driveline/Driveshaft
- Driver's Seat
- Exhaust System
- Frames
- Fuel System
- Lighting Devices
- Steering System
- Suspension
- Tires and Wheels
- Axles and associated components
- Windshield Wipers
- Truck and Trailer Body/Cab Condition
You should always keep your rig(s) in tip-top shape safety wise and appearance wise as much as possible (but nobody's perfect, nor is any rig perfect), but be especially vigilant about your rig's condition leading up to the Inspection dates.
Pay attention to little/minor things and get them fixed; don't ignore them and put them off.
Better to pay to get a burnt out light replaced than end up with a fine and have to pay for a light anyways.
Maybe head to your preferred local shop and get them to check over your rig; you'll probably be glad you did.
Also, maybe grab some spare lights and bulbs and grommets to keep in a storage box for a quick fix on the road. Extra windshield wipers, too. Fairly easy DIY stuff like that can end up saving you some big $.
Be safe and good luck!
Thanks for the date info - yep I agree - and if they see the obvious; like a burned out bulb they tend to scrutinize everything
